Nursing Professionals in Canada

Canada provides extended opportunities for healthcare professionals to get settled in Canada. It has begun a drive for recruiting healthcare experts and nurses from all over the world. Many nursing professionals from Asia are applying to immigrate to Canada as there is a high demand for nursing jobs in Canada. Broadly there are two immigration systems that can be looked upon while planning to immigrate to Canada. Canada is a dream immigration destination for many people across the world. Its booming economy and amazing civil liberties make it one of the best places to live in. Recently, Canada has begun a drive for recruiting experienced professionals from all over the world in various fields. Nursing is one such field which, along with other medical professions, is in very high demand. That is why many nursing professionals from India are racing to apply for immigration to Canada.

Foreign-born workers hoping to establish themselves in Canada as nurses must first follow a few simple steps:

  1. Research each provincial association
  2. Self-Assess and Apply to a Province
  3. Once your temporary permit is granted, apply for the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE)

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

The federal skilled worker program is meant for those nurses who have at least 1 year of relevant working experience and have secured a job with a healthcare institution in Canada.

You will have to go through a simple procedure to apply. Go to the website of the IRCC and fill up the express entry form. Here, you will need to provide particular details about yourself like age, educational qualification, work experience etc.

Once you have filled up the required particulars, you will be given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This score is going to be the basis of your selection for immigration to Canada in 2019. So, when the Express Entry draws take place (they happen once every 15 days), if your CRS score is above the cut off, you can apply for Canada immigration in 2019.

The FSW program will still use a points-based system and give points based on age, education, work experience, language proficiency and adaptability. Applicants need to obtain at least 67 points, have at least one year of skilled work experience in an Eligible Occupation and demonstrate an intermediate (Canadian Language Benchmark 7) proficiency in English or French.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.

This immigration pathway as PR is meant for those who have previous working experience in Canada. So, this is not the most popular immigration pathway although you can still apply through it. Consult our Canada immigration experts to know how to apply through this pathway if you have already worked in Canada before. In addition to these two streams at the national level, there is one more immigration pathway called the Occupation in-Demand stream. This steam is meant for those nursing professionals who have enough working experience to secure a job once they move over to Canada.

According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification, skilled work experience means:

◾ managerial jobs (skill level 0)

◾ professional jobs (skill type A)

◾ technical jobs and skilled trades (skill type B)

Your work experience can be in 1 or more NOC 0, A or B jobs.
