British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program
Home to the country’s third-largest city, Vancouver, British Columbia is also one of the most diverse provinces in all of Canada. Located on Canada’s west coast, British Columbia is recognized for the inimitable natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
The province’s economic growth and labour force needs make it a top destination for immigration in Canada. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program or BCPNP as it is called is the province’s foremost immigration program launched alongside the national Express Entry program to facilitate smooth entry of immigrants into the country.
As with the provincial nominee programs of other Canadian provinces, the BCPNP focuses on skill acquisition through immigration to fill up the skill gaps in the provincial economy. The program is operated by the British Columbia government in partnership with the federal immigration department, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Interested candidates must follow a two-stage process: apply for nomination to the provincial government, and then, if nominated, apply for permanent residence to the federal government. .
There are three categories that those interested in the British Columbia PNP can apply under.
