Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program

Alberta has one of Canada’s fastest-growing economies. The province is home to two of Canada’s largest cities, Calgary and Edmonton, and is the most populous of the country’s three ‘Prairie provinces’. It is also renowned as one of the most beautiful parts of North America, with famous national parks, such as Banff and Jasper.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program. The province’s natural resource portfolio includes natural gas, oil, coal, minerals and the famous Alberta oil sands, making Alberta Canada’s energy province. Through this program, prospective immigrants with the right mix of skills and work experience needed by the province may receive an Alberta Provincial Nomination Certificate. The Alberta Immigration authority is the largest immigration body in the province and deals exclusively with the entry of foreign immigrants with PR visa into the state.

The AINP accepts skilled worker applications under the Opportunity Alberta stream and under the Express Entry system.  The program is operated by the Alberta government in partnership with the federal immigration department, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Interested candidates must follow a two-stage process: apply for nomination to the provincial government, and then, if nominated, apply for permanent residence to the federal government. There are a variety of different sections and categories, which are broken up into three main immigration streams:

The Strategic Recruitment Stream
The Employer-Driven Stream
The Self-employed Farmer Stream
